- Amateur eventer aiming to step up to Intermediate in 2025
- I'm an equine vet & keep my horses on a professional event yard
- Buy / Lease / Loan
I'm looking for a genuinely established Intermediate / 3* eventer to help me make the step up nx season.
Ideally a quality, kind, small horse that's taken another amateur rider Intermediate / 3*. Something a bit blood, with confidence and scope to jump me out of trouble, good form and able to reward good riding.
I'm a relatively light-frame, 5'7 female and ride pretty soft / quiet so don't need a giant or anything too strong. I'm established at Novice / 2* level and brave and quick XC but if a horse is drying up on me I can't be trusted not to sit a bit passive so I do need a confident horse to bring out the positive rider in me.
There's a realistic budget to buy or I'd consider lease / loan maybe if the jockey's gone to Uni / travelling or for whatever reason doesn't want to sell. I'm an equine vet and am based with my two eventers, Bruno and Luna on a professional event yard with Gubby Leech, who gives me loads of support and also train with Dickie Waygood. I keep my horses super fit, ride them 5-6 days a week, mainly school out hacking in the wonderful parkland at Clarendon nr Salisbury and just go in the arena for lessons. The horses are on individual turnout and get loads of variety, training, schooling, competing, beach rides etc.
I'm plenty used to 'competition horses' and don't mind a little 'sass' but does need to be relatively straightforward on the ground as I often take several horses out on my own, without help.

If you'd like to get an idea of my riding pls feel free to take a look at the millions of photos / videos / debriefs on my Facebook / Insta. Just as it was all going amazingly and I thought we were about to step up, I did have a confidence knock middle of last season where I temporarily lost the ability to ride, but the wheels have been firmly re-attached and confidence levels are running high again.. that's eventing for you tho isn't it?!
Anyone who’s sold me a horse will tell you that if it’s a good match and I’m getting the feels, it’ll be the quickest, easiest sale you’ll ever have. I know what I like and I can vet my own horse.
Please don't be offended that I'm not currently looking for:
a quality youngster with potential but that hasn't had a few good runs at Intermediate - I don't have the experience to introduce a horse to Intermediate
a large / powerful / strong horse - I'll just be over-horsed
a horse that's been produced by a big, strong guy - I'm small and don’t ride super forceful
a very careful horse that'll lose confidence or punish me if I get it wrong - I'm an amateur and don't always get the best shot
a horse that hasn't been jumping bigger tracks in the last couple of years or who's had some problems with their record - I'm not going to be a better jockey than their previous partner
a horse that is a bit of a terrorist on the ground - I do this for fun and often I'm on my own without help
an agent to find me a horse - I'd initially like to explore options through my vet and rider networks and the HQ massif, to find me my next unicorn
