Are you a confident, calm rider with a desire for a well-bred, beautifully schooled horse—without the budget to match—but with the knowledge, time and patience to rebuild confidence in a willing horse like Harry? Harry is reluctantly offered for sale to the right rider, with home as the top priority.
Meet Harry
Handsome, lovable, and a dream to handle in all settings, Harry is a quality Irish Sports Horse with plenty of presence and potential. He’s working at Medium level dressage at home with clean changes each way, and has three correct, balanced paces. He’s affectionate on the ground, mannerly in the yard, and easy to manage both at home and away.
Whether you’re looking for a dressage horse or want to go eventing and are open to developing his showjumping confidence, Harry has all the foundations—he just needs the right rider to help him rebuild belief in himself. We think he'd make a great team chase horse as well.
Harry’s Highlights
- Super to load, travel, tie to the lorry, and stand quietly at events—alone or in company
- Brilliant in traffic: totally unphased by farm machinery, busy roads, and country lanes
- Not strong in open spaces—genuine and straightforward for XC or a good gallop
- Good to turn out with mares or geldings
- Affectionate, polite, and easy to handle in every aspect
- Clean bill of health, great feet, teeth done, physio and chiro all up to date
- Insurance - he is insured with Agria under its Lifetime Equine Vet fees policy which can transfer to the new owner
What you need to know
- Harry isn’t for everyone, he’s not 100% reliable. Most of the time he’s perfect, but unpredictable napping has unnerved his current amateur rider.
- He’s also had a knock in confidence in the showjumping ring—he jumps confidently at home and has jumped clear 90/100cm rounds this winter, but can hesitate in the ring. We believe this is anxiety-based, not naughtiness, and will improve with a calm, experienced rider who can give him the time he needs.
- He previously evented successfully up to BE100, but isn’t currently ready to step straight back into that world without support and patience.
Who he’s right for
Harry would thrive with a confident, quiet, empathetic rider—someone who’s not in a rush, who enjoys the process and can work towards realistic, rewarding goals. He’s a project in the best sense: talented and full of potential for someone willing to invest their experience and time in him.
He’s not a novice ride, not a confidence giver (but would be but for the nap!) —but he is a horse with a huge heart, lots to offer, and a world of love to give the right person.
Home is more important than price. He will only be sold if the right rider comes along.
