Willabelle (Lucy)

Field companion/ potential broodmare (unproven)

Lucy is a 13y/o 16.3 bay Hanoverian mare, (sire Wanninger and dam Old Edition) with a lovely temperament and gentle nature. She has fantastic breeding and beautiful confirmation so we believe she would produce a fantastic foal.

She does have a touch of kissing spine and arthritis in her hocks however she has been cleared by the vet to have foals and could also be treated. Sadly as I work away most weeks and my daughter is now living in Gloucester we have decided it would be best for her to go to a new home.

She has previously been ridden in Hartpury arenas as she did go to college with my daughter, so she is comfortable with busy environments. When she was ridden she had 3 even, balanced paces and all in all a pleasure to watch.

She hasn’t been easy to load, she much prefers a lorry to travel in, however she is otherwise good to clip, shoe, vet and good with the dentist. (Unshod at the moment). Currently living out full time with our Dartmoor, Exmoor, two donkeys and an ISH on our smallholding in North Cornwall.

She is not to go to a novice home so please no time wasters.

She would suit an ambitious teen perhaps coming off of ponys or someone wanting some experience around bigger tracks.

An absolute push button ride. She will not suit a novice however as she is a forward going, fun & buzzy ride.

Beautifully schooled on the flat.

Hacks alone & in company but can be a little spooky in new places however never unseats you.

Will have a look around the arena if there is something scary in the corner but once’s she’s seen it she settle and works nicely. Never spooks at a fence, fillers, water ect.

A mare that really knows her job. Someone will really have a lot of fun with this one.

She has a super soft mouth, 3 active, athletic paces and is exceptionally careful and scopey.

She has jumped to Discovery and is still in British Novices.

She was purchased straight from the breeder by a teenage girl for PC type activities but proves to be far too much for her.

The horse is talented and flashy but can be difficult to ride, will throw in a buck or nap if allowed and therefore needs an experienced/competent rider to push her through.

She would benefit from a few months of training to gain her confidence with her rider and I have no doubt this will make an excellent, competitive sports horse for someone with a limited budget with a bit of hard work.

She hacks alone/in company- although I wouldn’t sell her as a happy hacker.

She is not one bit clingy, has good manors on the ground.

She has no stable vices, excellent feet and happy being in or out.

She would be an asset in a breeding program and would also make a lovely dressage mare as she moves well enough.

She has established changes, works well on the flat and isn’t spooky around the arena.

she does have a grass crack growing out of one front hoof, but farrier is not concerned by this at all and neither am i we had front shoes put on to help it strengthen and grow out correctly

Handled and started lunging/ long reining. Has had a saddle on and ready to be leant over.

Good for farrier and to have feet picked out. Been in wash box for a bath and really well behaved. Been allowed to mature with others in the field over summer. She should make 16.2h when finished growing.

A really lovely exciting prospect. Not out a foot wrong but will need time and a knowledgeable person to help progress her education due to age.
