16.2 Bay 11yr TB Mare. ROR Eligible. Sammy is an absolutely beautiful TB by the popular stallion Black Sam Bellamy. She's not your typical TB, she looks more like a sport horse. She moves well, has a great temperament, excellent feet and good confirmation!
I brought Sammy a few years ago to actually use as a broodmare as I was looking for a full TB and I liked her breeding aswell as her temperament, confirmation and good feet! I then didn't have the funds to put her in foal so she went on breeding loan to a friend and she bred a beautiful colt by a connemara stallion. She had an easy foaling and was the most excellent mother and would always be an asset to an eventing or racing breeder, she would happily be a mum again!
This winter having left her empty again, I decided I'd give her something to do and bring her back into work! Sammy has taken to her ridden life away from racing well. She is a forward ride and like alot of ex racers does try and use speed when she finds something difficult! She is working well on the flat, she works in a nice frame with a balanced canter and is now developing her leg yield and counter canter. She has popped a few jumps and seems to enjoy this although I have mainly concentrated on her flatwork.
She hacks alone and in company, very un spooky and excellent in traffic. She used to get anxious about having to wait.
Sammy is brilliant to catch, shoe, clip and load. She turns out in big or small herds or individually with friends next door.
Sammy doesn't need riding everyday and isn't sharp, silly or spooky! She is still in the retraining stages and therefore needs a confident and sympathetic new rider who has experience retraining thoroughbreds and understands that she could have anxious moments when moving to a new yard with a new rider. Sammy has come on leaps and bounds over the last few months and improves everyday and I have grown very found of her. I would love her to go to someone who wants to carry on slowly retraining her whilst building a relationship and giving her lots of love!
Sammy would prefer to live on a yard with plenty of turnout as this is what she's used to having lived out 24/7 for the last few years. Having said that she loves being in and is happy stabled.
Bridle and rugs included. Saddle available
