Lewis has been a pleasure to own over the years I’ve had him and is now only available to the most doting of long term homes who will appreciate his many virtues and prioritise his happiness.
Lewis is easy for a home producer to contest the amateur lightweight cob classes, he is safe and fun for a lady or gent to take to comps, for lessons, camps and clinics on their own. He is brilliant at polework and has a wonderful swinging hind leg action which could be developed with dressage lessons. He has won several major final qualifiers, coming 7th at the RIHS in 2024, 8th in the Turley Gill home produced final and 4th at LIHS 2023. He has had wins in County Show open classes and loves an evening performance.
Lewis is by a top track jumping KWPN stallion out of an Irish mare. This gives him quality limb, ample flat bone, a beautiful head and a sensible brain (albeit with a twinkle in his eye of a competition horse). He has more athletic potential to be developed on the flat and over fences than I’ve had time to explore.
He carries a sidesaddle but now I have sciatica I find that impossible to enjoy and, in general, him a little too wide for me.
He has done an immaculate job of accompanying my daughter on her ponies out hacking hundreds of times without ever putting a foot wrong, albeit he does not appreciate fast traffic whizzing past him too close by. He is suspicious of large deep puddles but will go through with a boot. I don’t gallop him out and about or in groups as all our hacking is on hard by-ways.
For the most part Lewis will take a novice rider, especially in the school. Once warmed/ chivvied up he will readily collect and extend, has direct transitions, super rein back and startings of lateral work.
He would make a cracking working show horse and would excel at every event in a riding clubs calendar. He looks the absolute business when ridden by a showing professional but being produced is out of my reach. He has never hunted or been xc.
No history of lami, colic, sweet itch or ulcers, no allergies, splints, conformational defects, has good feet, skin, sound wind and never had a joint medicated or a soft tissue injury. No stable vices and goes straight in and around arena perfectly regardless when last ridden.
He is perfect to load, travel, shoe, tie up, clip, bath, catch, stay away shows, treadmill, walker, dentist, vet etc and is an adorable, loyal companion offered for sale through no absolutely fault of his own.
Very serious enquiries only please from people in funds to purchase, no loans or LWTB. Comes with both his bridles. Based near Stansted Airport, Essex.
