'Humphrey' Grand Apollo, 16.1hh, gelding, 8 years old from top class showjumping bloodlines with Concorde and Grandeur being his grandparents. He is a KWPN x Hanoverian.

For long term full loan or sale. He passed a 5 stage vetting in August 2021. Humphrey is also AES registered.

I am happy for him to go to a long term home and to move yards. He is in his prime and deserves to be pushed to reach his potential. With work commitments and a promotion I have just not got enough time for him.

I have owned humphrey for 3 years, I got him as a green 5 year old that had not done anything. I want him to go to a home that is perfect for him, so this will be a honest advert with nothing sugar coated.

3 videos attached -
‘Humphrey hacking’ - walk, trot and cantering
‘Humphrey jumping’ - showjumping and cross country
‘Humphrey’ - his personality and photos

Ground manners
Ground manners are really good, we have him in a control head collar as he used to be bolshy. He doesn’t like being tied up but will stand great in cross ties. In the winter if they are kept in a few days he can get strong when walking to the feild.

Travel
Humphrey boxes really well and loads himself. We have been boxing him in an Equi Trek, he has been loaded onto lorry’s previously. We tried him in a Ifor Williams, he wasn’t a fan of the rear loading ramp.

Riding
Humphrey is great to ride. I have had beginners and novices on him and he will plod around the arena and over jumps. However he is not a novice ride, he doesn’t like certain people riding him and we are unsure as to why but he will not move as soon as they sit in the saddle and other riders he would go and jump a good course with no bother. I spent the whole summer last year just out hacking on his own and with others which he loves, he can be nappy on his own sometimes but doesn’t take long to sort out. He will walk past tractors and other big machinery with no bother but a leaf on the floor might be too scary that day.

In the arena he is great, if he comes out fresh he only needs 2 mins of good trotting between hand and leg and he will soften straight away.

His vices are he can rear however he has not done this for a long time. However I cannot say he would never do this again in the future.

He is the type of horse you can leave for a week and get on and he’ll be fine.

On the flat he makes such a lovely outline, he loves to do pole work but definitely thrives jumping.

We have taken him to many arena hires for lessons or just fun. He enjoyed arena cross country and popped over everything I asked, he is still green so may take a while to understand what you are asking but once he gets going there is no stopping him.

He has an amazing jump on him and his scope is incredible. I haven’t reached his potential at all, he could definitely be jumping big tracks.

He hasn’t done much jumping this last year, as I injured my knee and had to have surgery. He absolutely loves jumping and is brave but sometimes he will put in a stop. I put this down to him being a little green still.

I’m a nervous rider and haven’t pushed him to see what he can achieve.

Personality
He’s like owning a big dog. He’s very lovable, if you had him at home he’d want to be in the house with you. Poo picking his feild he follows you round trying to knock over the barrow. He’s very silly and loves human interaction.

Stabling
Winter - stabled at night and out in the day. Humphrey does liven up while being ridden, he will be a lot fresher.

Summer - turned out 24/7.
He turns into a donkey, he definitely prefers being out 24/7 and if you could offer this all year round he would be calmer and not as perky.

Illnesses/injurys
Humphrey had ulcers in 2022, which were treated by the vet. They were grade 2 classed as mild. We have had no issues since. To manage this we feed a handful of chaff before every ride. We put his rearing down to him having ulcers and his behaviour improved dramatically once treated.

He is a really good doer and has not been lame or sorry in the time we’ve owned him.

Feeding
He is on a simple diet of just Dengie Alpha-A oil. 1 scoop morning and night and his condition is remarkable. He has 2 supplements which are omega equine magnesium and protaxtin gut balancer.

Shoeing
He only gets his fronts shod as he has really good feet and could potentially be fully barefoot. He has been fully shod in the past and is good.

Clipping
We have only clipped him once in the past he had to be sedated and twitched towards his head. He needs time and patience when it comes to this.

Tack
He is snaffled mouthed at all times. He can get strong while jumping but if you ask him to come back to trot he will.

Humphrey has all the gear and at the right price I am happy for his whole wardrobe and tack to go with him. All his rugs are premier equine. His saddle is an equip mono flap.

We will also be selling our equi trek trail Trekka Large which are super hard to get hold of.

This is a very sad sale of a lovely boy, only serious enquiries only please.

I am happy for calls/messages regarding Humphrey on 07710 488711. Thank you Charlotte

16h super smart SHBGB bay gelding, 15 yrs.

Fantastic opportunity to lease a very special, experienced event horse who has had a career to Intermediate. He was busy last season at BE100 with his teenage jockey, won the 2024 Blenheim HT RC Eventer Challenge 100, and is ready to go out and party again this time!

The most genuine horse who knows and loves his job and always looks after his jockey. He’s a pleasure to take anywhere, not fazed by a big atmosphere and loves to get out and about. Easy to hack in company or alone. Always ridden in a snaffle and never strong.

Would suit a lightweight, quiet, kind, competent junior looking for their first horse off ponies and/or to teach someone the ropes out eventing.

Would downgrade so could be aimed at Badminton Grassroots.

Travels well in trailer or lorry although prefers the latter if he has a choice!

Only available due to looming ‘A’ levels and University this year. To stay at current idyllic, peaceful eventing yard within easy reach of a host of great competition and training venues including Swalcliffe, Lyneham, Aston le Walls, Addington, Rectory Farm & Allens Hill.

110% professional care, great facilities and excellent support team; farrier, vet, physio. Brilliant off-road hacking for miles. Opportunity to train and travel to competitions with the team.

I’m afraid we don’t want him to hunt or team chase

DO YOU HAVE A HORSE OR PONY SUITABLE FOR THE RDA?

WANTED ON LONG TERM LOAN / PURCHASE

Ref #: 249896
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below

One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below.

Companion Pony - Freddie

Freddie is a stunning Palomino Irish Sports Horse with a big personality and a lot of love to give! Known affectionately as our "Giant Barbie Horse" for his striking looks and golden coat, Freddie is looking for a new home after returning to our care due to a change of circumstances. He’s a gentle giant who thrives on attention and would suit a confident handler who can offer him a steady, routine-based environment.

Freddie is a friendly and affectionate horse who loves attention. He’s used to being handled and enjoys human interaction. However, he can take some time to settle into a new home, so he will need someone who is patient, confident, and consistent in their approach to help him feel secure. He’s a big horse with a big heart.

Freddie would be happy living with other large horses, where he can enjoy the company of his peers and establish strong herd relationships. He thrives on a daily routine, which helps him feel settled and secure.

If you have experience with larger horses and are looking for a stunning companion who thrives on attention and routine, Freddie could be the perfect match for you. He's ready for a fresh start and is looking for a forever home where he can truly shine. Could you be the one to give Freddie the home he deserves? Come meet this gentle giant today!

Can you give Freddie a loving new home?

The hardest decision I will have to make, finding my special boy a new mummy/daddy.

Due to personal circumstances and no fault of his own at all.

15.1hh approx 12yrld gelding by Invincible spirit. Ultimate ROR FUN HORSE.

Steady has mainly competed in showing ridden and in hand, qualifying for Aintree and Hickstead 2025.

He has also competed in ror and hack hoys qualifiers.

He is a pleasure to take to shows and doesn't require hours of working in, multiple times he has gone straight in the ring because we have been late!

I feel he would massively excel in dressage, personally I just don't do this. And now with a young child, I am really struggling with giving him the time he deserves.

He has done low level sj but i haven't done any recently as concentrated on showing - He has attended clinics, fun rides, hunting.

Hacking he loves on his own or in company - mainly hack on my own.

Always in a snaffle (apart from showing) never strong or silly.

You can leave him weeks and he doesn't get fresh or have to be lunged.

He is good to shoe, box, clip, travel, turns out on his own and isn't clingy.

His only vice is he does windsuck, although in the field with electric fencing he doesn't.

I love this horse to bits and the right home is paramount.

Same home for 8 years, we trained him in his racing career - I have ridden him in races and retrained him myself.

He is so much fun and in his prime, would be ideal for a teen or mother daughter share type or someone wanted to have a lot of fun dressage / showing / hacking.

I would discuss LWVTB to the right home and on the agreement he was insured.

Stunning 16.1 AES with a Dutch passport and excellent breeding looking for a full loan home. She is 7 years old and has been with us for 2 years. She has competed in unaffiliated competitions with my 16-year-old daughter. We are looking for a dressage home and are happy to disclose reasons why to any seriously interested parties

We are looking for an experienced home, someone who has had this type of blood horse before. She is sensitive, sometimes spooky and can be challenging turning out, she is not nasty in any way, but not for novices as she needs a calm confident handler/ rider. She is a genuinely loving mare and is not mareish at all. She loves attention and seeks a strong bond with her human. She hacks alone and is good in all aspects with 3 stunning paces.
We are very fussy as to where she goes and will want to keep in touch and visit . She is a very special girl.
