Billy Congo, born in 2001, is a British-bred showjumping stallion by Vechta, out of a dam by Animo. Billy Congo enjoyed a remarkable competition career with William. He was the most successful stallion on the 2013 Global Champions Tour (GCT) circuit, with standout performances that included a second place in the Monte Carlo GCT, another second place in Cannes, a fourth place in London, and a sixth place in Estoril. This impressive year also saw Billy Congo and Funnell claim team gold at the European Championships in Herning, Denmark.
In addition to his GCT achievements, Billy Congo earned victories in prestigious events, such as a first place in the CSI5* Grand Prix in Donetsk, first in the CSI3* Grand Prix in Lummen, and a first in the CSI5* 1.55m class in Rome. He also delivered a double clear in the Nations Cup at CSIO5* Hickstead, further cementing his status as a top performer.
Billy Congo retired from the highest levels of sport on a high in 2019 at the age of 18, after finishing 2nd in the Queen Elizabeth Cup at Hickstead in 2018.
Known for his scope, technique, and competitive spirit, Billy Congo’s success in the ring made him a formidable competitor on the international stage. Now retired from active competition, he stands at stud, where he has proven to be a prolific sire, passing on his exceptional jumping ability to his offspring, many of whom are succeeding at the highest levels of showjumping worldwide. He has sired numerous 1.60 m jumpers, including Billy Buckingham, who as a member of the British team at WEG 2018, as well as winning the Hickstead Derby in 2018. Billy Fanta and Samantha Cohen won gold the FEI Young Riders Championships in 2019. He has also sired several CCI***eventers including Billy LIffey, Billy Cuckoo, and Billy Bandit.
Vechta is a highly successful stallion, born on April 5, 1991, sired by Voltaire and out of the mare Woludine. Vechta has competed at the highest levels, earning recognition as an international Grand Prix show jumper. His pedigree includes top-tier bloodlines, contributing to both his athleticism and his impressive breeding achievements.
Animo was a KWPN showjumping stallion has left a lasting legacy in both competition and breeding. Known for his exceptional contributions to British sport horse breeding, Animo had an illustrious career as a sire, covering around 3,000 mares. He played a pivotal role in the development of the Billy Stud becoming a foundation sire. Animo produced numerous successful showjumpers, including Ben Maher’s Robin Hood W, and is also the damsire of the dressage star Nip Tuck.
