Midnight champion

Stable name champ

Champ has had the best start to life broken in by a lovely family in Ireland who have produced him over the past year. He has visited the beach. Competed showing including working hunter. And has been out unaffiliated jumping. They took him out hunting before he came over to us as they have a younger pony to produce on.

Champ is much more slow than go with an amazing temperament and the flashy looks. Would suit any rider. We have put him through his paces here with a wide range of riders on him from petite child beginner to novice adults hacking and more experienced riders everyone gets off with a huge smile on there face. Now ready to find his best friend.

Easiest horse on the ground. Clipped him without his head collar on. Loves the children and being made a fuss of.

More videos and photos on request.

Open to any viewing and vetting.

Based Elsenham, Essex.

DO YOU HAVE A HORSE OR PONY SUITABLE FOR THE RDA?

WANTED ON LONG TERM LOAN / PURCHASE

Ref #: 249896
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below

One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below.

Perfect Family Pony

Ref #: 360596
  • Safe, kind and steady
  • Hacks alone and in company
  • Pops a course of show jumps and loves cross country
SOLD!
  • Connemara Part Bred

  • Gelding
  • 5 years
  • 14.1 hands

  • Hacks alone and in company
  • Pops a course of show jumps and loves cross country
Jimmy is an absolutely lovely 5 year old Connemara cross cob. We got him at the end of August from his breeder where he had been broken and ridden away - mostly herding sheep!

Jimmy schools nicely and has 3 good paces. He learns fast and is very trainable. He has been out and about to arena hires and jumped round show jumping and showcross courses. He is always willing and has never stopped at a jump. He will trot and pop or canter round if asked but he is a bit of a steady Eddie! He really loves cross country and has good jump on him. Hacking he will go front, back, middle or out on his own. Good with farm machinery and animals. Never seen him spook. We think he would be a great hunting pony.

In terms of personality we all find Jimmy hilarious. He is unphased by anything life throws at him and does everything in his own time. Definitely an old head on young shoulders. He wears a permanently nonchalant expression which totally sums him up. He really is a super character. He's easy to brush, bath, catch, tack up (snaffle bridle - no martingale needed), good for the farrier (barefoot), loads and travels well, stands on his own in the box if needed. He was clipped this week and he loved it. Lives in or out. Loves a cuddle. No vices. Never seen him rear, bolt, nap, bite or kick and never been sick or sorry. The only negative is that he can be a little bit wary of fast movements towards him by people he doesn't know but this is much improved from when he arrived (by their own admittance he hadn't had a lot of attention at his breeders yard).

Jimmy is ready for his own people now and could appeal to a variety of homes. He could lead rein for younger siblings, be hacked by Mum during the week and go to pony club or hunt with an older child at the weekend. He is the perfect family friend. Equally he could work in a riding school or be a first pony for an older child. Knowledgeable homes only though as he is young and still learning and we want him to continue to progress - he has so much potential. Priced to sell at Christmas otherwise we will keep him to produce further. No offers - he's worth every penny.

Sold with his bridle and rug
