We've owned Chocolate for 3 years and I've had the best time on him. From 2021 to 2022 we went to the forest, beach, XC schooling, SJ arena hires as well as hacking for hours. He did not put a foot wrong and jumped logs and hedges in the woods, whizzed round SJ arena hires, had a few very successful XC schools and a hunter trial, and my sister and I spent hours cantering and jumping round Thetford forest with him and my other pony. He then went on loan for 2 years from 2022 to 2024 (as my sister gave up riding) and he came back off loan in July 2024 due to no fault of his own as he was outgrown by his jockeys. Whilst on loan, he also took part in a few Pony Racing taster days and was impeccably behaved.
Since Choccie has been home, I've kept him ticking over as he's currently not got a rider. We went to Pony camp in August where we spent 2 days bossing round show jumps (it was the first time I had jumped in a year, and first time jumping him in 2 1/2 years and he looked after me very well) we also went to the forest again and in late September, Chocolate took me round a 12 mile fun ride - he jumped everything I put in front of him and kept up with 4 other horses - leading some of the canters and jumps too. As much as I'd love to, I cannot stay on ponies and if I could add a couple hands to Chocolate, then I would do so immediately as this pony is worth his weight in gold. However he still has so much mileage left in the tank and I can't have that wasted on me plodding about on him. Will happily lead the ride or stay at the back. He works at your pace and hacks on the buckle alone and in company. I've put my complete beginner friends on him and he cantered behind and in front - did not put a foot wrong. Can be strong when put him behind a horse when he is fresh in winter, but nothing nasty and listens to when you say no.
No vices, good to catch and lead, groom, clip, bath, vet, farrier (barefoot) , teeth and physio. Lives out 24/7 with shelter- can live with mares and geldings. But equally can switch to a combined management system. Chocolate is the pony that when on a group hack, and one of you drop your whip or lose a boot, he's the horse that you can jump off, grab the whip, and jump back on!
Up to date with vaccinations, physio, and teeth. Coming with all his tack and rugs.
