Safe & Steady Cob Mare

Location: Stockport, Cheshire, SK2
Name: Winnie
Breed: Cob
Age: 18 years
Height: 15.3hh
Colour: Black & White
Sex: Mare
Type: All-Rounder / Happy Hacker / Schoolmistress / RDA Suitable
Special Qualities: Weight Carrier, Safe for Nervous Riders, Low Maintenance

The Ultimate Confidence Giver

Winnie is an exceptional 15.2hh cob mare 18yrs young, super fit with absolutely no stiffness or arthritis, 100% fit and health in every way, she requires no supplements or medication, this mate is truly a rare combination of safety, strength, experience, and a heart of gold. She is kind, bold, dependable weight carrier, ideal for a wide range of riders – from complete beginners and nervous adults to more experienced jockeys who prefer a calm and steady ride.

Winnie is beautifully put together and has “been there, done that” in every sense. A calm, considerate and willing mare, she is the definition of safe and steady. She has more “woah” than “go”, making her a perfect mount for riders who want to enjoy their riding at a relaxed pace without compromising on ability or responsiveness.

Ideal for Beginners, RDA, or All-Round Riders

Winnie is currently worked in a very busy riding school environment and she has excelled with every level of rider – from total novices to advanced. She is also a firm favourite for RDA (Riding for the Disabled Association) and special requirements sessions, both under saddle and during stable management and therapy activities.

She has experience in flatwork lessons, both private and group, as well as participating in our in-house low level showjumping and cross-country novice classes and competitions. She is confident over coloured and rustic fences and has a bold, careful jump.

Winnie also loves to hack out and does so safely and calmly. She will happily hack alone or in company and has been exposed to the heaviest, fastest-moving traffic imaginable. She is completely unphased by buses, lorries, farm machinery and all types of vehicles. She remains safe and steady in all environments and does not rush or pull, even in open spaces or on the way home.

Although she is happy to go at a quiet, steady pace, she is also responsive to the leg and has three balanced, steady paces. For more experienced riders, she will work with enthusiasm and energy, always staying calm and sensible.

Manners, Temperament & Handling

Winnie has outstanding ground manners. She stands for hours to be groomed and fussed over, with or without a headcollar or lead rope. She is never marish or clingy, and she’s happy living in or out. In the field, she keeps herself to herself and never causes trouble, whether stabled alone or turned out in a mixed herd.

Winnie has a history of excellent health and has never had laminitis, sweet itch, sarcoids, or any lumps, bumps, or unsoundness. She is currently barefoot with strong, healthy hooves and is equally happy to be shod. She is excellent to catch, great to load and travel, and good with the farrier, vet, and dentist.

She is incredibly low maintenance, requiring no daily work. She can have weeks or even months off and return to ridden work without any fuss. She maintains her condition year-round on a simple diet and is easy to manage in every way.

She passes her annual Licence Inspection, which is the equivalent of a Stage 2 vetting.

A Truly Special Mare

Winnie is a rare gem. She is the perfect choice for someone looking for a calm, dependable, and capable all-rounder. Whether you’re a nervous adult, a beginner rider, someone looking for a safe happy hacker, or a family looking for a versatile and loving horse, Winnie fits the bill perfectly. She is a genuine schoolmistress who provides confidence and enjoyment in every ride and will give her next owner years of pleasure.

Why Is She for Sale?

This is a heartbreaking sale. As part of our regular stock rotation, we give our riding school horses the opportunity to move on to private homes so they can enjoy one-on-one attention and new experiences. Winnie is ready to bring joy to her next rider and deserves the very best home.

Biscuit is being advertised as a field companion or in time could be used in light work only due to recent field injury.

He is a lovely pony and is field sound. He is good with mares or geldings and respects fencing.

Biscuit was broken in earlier this year, he schools well in an outline and isn’t strong at all. He has popped over a small jump and just started hacking.

He can be a little wary of new people and places but soon settles and is very loveable when he gets to know you, he really is the most beautiful pony

Sparrow is a handsome chap with a kind nature and gentle presence. He has settled into his new routine beautifully. Despite losing vision in his right eye due to an old injury, Sparrow remains a bright, willing companion who enjoys quiet handling and thrives on reassurance.

Sparrow is looking for a companion-only home where he can enjoy the company of other horses or live happily with enrichment to keep him occupied. He is good to catch, lead, groom, and pick up all four feet, though he can be a little cautious on his blind side. He has also shown good manners with vets and is steadily building confidence in all areas of his handling.

Sparrow is currently living out 24/7 but has been part-stabled for short periods. He would suit an adopter who can offer a calm, consistent environment and is happy to continue with his gentle in-hand walks, which also help him maintain a healthy weight.

Meet Peanut, a kind-natured and easy-going mare who’s looking for a companion-only home where she can enjoy a peaceful, loving environment.

Peanut is good to handle in all ways—she’s calm, respectful on the ground, stands well for the farrier and vet, and enjoys being groomed and fussed over. She’s the type of horse that makes daily care a pleasure.

Peanut has previously lived happily in a herd of mares and could be gently introduced to gelding companions as well. While she’s ideally suited to a home with other horses, she may be able to stay alone for short periods once she’s fully settled, especially with human companionship and a stable routine.

Once she settles in, Erin is good to handle and builds a quiet bond with those who are patient and kind. She prefers the peacefulness of living out 24/7 and is currently happily turned out with a mare. She has started to part stable with company. Albie is a stunning cremello gelding with a big personality and an even bigger heart!

This handsome boy is very people-orientated and loves attention, making him a wonderful companion to spend time with. Albie is well-mannered and good to handle in all aspects of his care. He enjoys grooming, fuss, and interaction, and would suit a home where he can continue to be a much-loved part of daily life.

Albie is currently living happily with geldings and thrives in a herd environment. Has previously lived with mares. He has a very playful side, so he would do best with equine companions that enjoy a bit of fun and play too. As a cremello, he does need a little extra pampering in the summer months to protect his pink skin, but with the right care he manages very well.

This special gelding is looking for a kind, dedicated home that can give him the love, attention, and companionship he deserves. In return, Albie will bring plenty of joy, character, and affection into your life.

Circus is the loveliest character, he loves cuddles and being groomed and would make a great companion horse for somebody looking to do some happy hacking!

Circus is easy to do in all ways, he will walk on the buckle around for a hack!

In the menage he is more forward going so not a novice ride (not silly just forward)

He would be the perfect horse for hacking holidays, fun rides, beach trips etc!

We have had Circus for the last 7/8 years, we know him inside out! He is a sweet and kind horse and we would like Circus to go to an experienced and forever home, someone that can provide him the care, love and time he deserves as that is all he wants to give to you!

He has done a bit of everything in the past from eventing as a young horse to showjumping but he’s now just looking for an easy life - no homes that want to jump or school heavily please!

Circus is regretfully up for sale as I’m now working full time and do not have enough time for a horse, this has been a very hard decision for me!

5yo Belgium Warmblood gelding with all the chrome

Ref #: 381930

  • DJD in R fetlock so looking for companion or low level all rounder home
  • Can be left alone in field or stable- as long as he has hay/grass, he's not bothered about friends!
  • Stunning, loveable puppy dog personality
5yo Belgium Warmblood gelding with all the chrome, standing at 17hh on a stick, but is more of a fine build so does not feel huge to ride. Pink Belgium passport - breeding fully recorded.

Absolutely puppy dog on the ground - very affectionate and nosy but does much prefer women - has always been more wary of men although lovely with my partner once he got to know him. No vices.

Good for farrier apart from the hot shoeing phase where he is not a fan of the smoke (doesn't do anything apart from tense up, so I just hold him for this part). Does not kick etc.

Good to clip, lunge, load etc

Has some top SJing breeding and was imported from Belgian and bought by myself as a 3yo. Backed when he was a 4yo by myself and did mostly hacking, then was turned away for a while, and came into work properly at the start of the year.

Sadly this has been short lived as he has been diagnosed with DJD in his right fetlock so he will not make the high performance showjumper that I had intended. His fetlock has been medicated and he has had time off and the appropriate rehab, and has since been left whilst I got to terms with his diagnosis

So now I am looking for either 1) A companion home for him - he can be turned out with or without other horses, same with in the stable; as long as he has some hay/grass, his belly is far more important to him than where his friends are!

Or 2) a low level riding horse / happy hacker - However keep in mind he is a large and young sports horse so would not be suitable for a novice. Was always good to hack - had been in open fields, main roads, passed double decker buses, tractors etc, and never battered an eyelid, however since moving yards a few months ago, there is no hacking whatsoever so he had not hacked since - I do have hundreds of videos of him hacking all over the place. Beautiful flashy mover so perhaps would make a decent dressage horse?

Not currently in work so sold from field - I'm more than happy to chuck some tack on and get on him if someone wanted to see that he is safe to get on and lightly walk/trot about but I'm not looking to allow ridden viewings as I don't really want him pulled from the field at random intervals and have strangers get on him and hammer him when he is not currently fit

Does have a couple of warts on his sheath that have never bothered him or changed

Up to date with vaccinations, worming, physio, chiropractor

Not for sale to a dealer or anyone who would look to get him in work and show him off for a quick profit without disclosing his problem

Not looking to answer millions of silly questions about his suitability or longevity of being a ridden horse - he is priced to allow for a degree of "buyer beware" regarding his longevity to be ridden - I simply don't know the answer but I do know he doesn't need a home where he will be hammered under saddle

If interested, please message with the type of home you are offering and your experience and I will get back to you if I think you are suitable

Rookery Sion is the sweetest most affectionate pony on the ground and will stand all day to be groomed by a child including picking feet and brushing main and tail. He loads and travels very well, stands well for the farrier and has grown more confident with bathing.
Sion lives off fresh air and is bare foot with no stable vices.

Previously shown by young adult and taken on lead rein farm rides with a 7 year old, passing farm animals and machinery without any fuss.

He would excel both in hand showing or ridden, with an experienced rider. He has the potential to be a lovely childs pony, however he isn't quite ready for that job yet and it shows up when having to navigate the unexpected, he requires further education.
Although backed in 2024 and ridden for the last 12 months by a young adult, he has been sent away to schooling livery to further his education.
Sion is spooky and nervous which is why he is not yet suitable as a LR/FR/Childs pony, he doesn't buck or rear but is still very green and will only go to a patient and knowledgable home. He will require his education to be continued by an experienced adult in his new home.

He will only go to a 5 star home and refrences may be requested.
Please do not enquire if you are looking for a finished product First Ridden or Lead Rein type pony, unless you are intending to bring him on for that purpose.
Children will not be permitted to ride at any viewings for the reasons stated above.
