Heartbreaking sale of this much loved, 15.2hh, 7 year old gelding. Welsh D cross warmblood.
I have owned Monty for 18 months, we have done loads of hacking, pony club activities, hunting and team chasing. Monty’s favourite thing is team chasing, but he also has fabulous paces for dressage and we have had dressage lessons where my instructor compliments how smart he is!
Monty is a fairly forward ride when out and about, but always in a snaffle (only has a universal bit for hunting). He’s a little lazier in the arena.
Monty always wants to please, he is a quick learner and really tried his hardest.
Monty attended a busy Boxing Day hunt meet where he behaved impeccably. We have also attended a hunt clinic with Vittoria Pannizon where he flew over plenty of hedges and showed us how much scope he had got. He enjoyed this day and gave me a super feeling over the jumps. He is not one to hesitate/ stop.
Whilst I’ve owned Monty I have had a baby, i didn’t ride in the later stages of my pregnancy so found a part loaner to enjoy him and keep him fit. 3 weeks post partum Monty took me round Cotswold Mini Team chase and kept me safe while I was gettin back into the swing of things. More recently we went round Bicester novice team chase, Monty lead through the water. This really is where he thrives the most! He’s keen, but easy to slow down even in a snaffle and his canter is very adjustable.
We have done some showjumping. He has not been spooky at fillers/ coloured jumps and is very confident upto 85cm courses, though he has potential to compete much higher with the right rider.
Monty is fantastic to hack, alone or in company, great in all sorts of traffic.
Monty has mainly lived out with me as I have been busy with my baby, however he has been stabled on the odd occasion with no issues.
Upto date with farrier, teeth, vaccs etc.
