Paddy has been an excellent happy hacker for many years for his lovely owner whom due to arthritis has hung up her boots. We are told he has previously been in an Irish trekking centre and done some hunting.

We have taken him out to an arena hire this week he loads and travels perfect and was not phased by the arena mirrors or vibrant coloured poles. He is no showjumper but will have a go at a log out hacking or low level jumps. A very honest boy.

He is brilliant in open spaces alone and in company he is very easy to stop as he responds immediately to voice commands.

He has 3 lovely paces with a very rhythmic trot however due to mainly hacking needs encouraging into canter in the school especially on a circle (if you don’t kick he won’t go not necessarily a bad thing) he is improving with this daily the more he does and with some further schooling eduction would do a lovely dressage test.

On the ground he loves a fuss and a treat. A true best friend.

5 star home only.

Searching For - Allrounder / Best Friend Type

Ref #: 361473

  • Kind, Knowledgeable Family Home
  • Approx 15 - 15.2hh

  • Kind, Knowledgeable Family Home

We are searching for our daughter’s next best friend as she has very sadly outgrown her current pony (who has a home for life with us). Our horses are kept at home with us & our daughter, Ivy, is involved in every aspect of their care, so a trustworthy, best friend type is a must. Ivy currently enjoys varied activities with her pony including hacking from home, boxing up for forest rides, XC, clinics, local shows & lessons. We are not looking for a ‘world beater’ or a ‘rosette machine’ - we enjoy spending time with our horses & they are treated as part of the family, so temperament is hugely important. Up to now, Ivy has enjoyed attending regular clinics & local shows, jumping up to 70cm. She would like to find a new partner to progress with, enjoying the same variety with a horse comfortable jumping around 80/90cm.

Ivy’s current pony is not a kick along, she can be quite forward when jumping, so she would be fine with a responsive ride, however, we are not looking for anything too keen/strong or whizzy. Absolutely nothing that rears or bolts. Sadly, Ivy was bolted with when viewing a pony previously, so we would like to find a sensible horse who does not become too strong or excitable when out hacking in open spaces, alone or in company.

We live in a rural area & hack along quiet roads, but we do sometimes meet our local farmer, so we need a horse who is confident to pass farm vehicles.

We often box up to go for forest rides or to attend clinics, lessons & shows so our new horse needs to be happy to load & travel alone or with company.

We understand that no horse is perfect & we are not searching for a ‘unicorn’ so please be honest about any known quirks or habits as we are open to manageable imperfections. We will not buy unseen & would wish to have the horse vetted.

We offer a very kind, loving & knowledgeable family home with our other horses for company & we are happy to have a home check, provide references & to keep in touch.

We are Norfolk based, so ideally looking for something in or around East Anglia, but would travel further if photos & videos can be provided first.

Sorry, no dealers please.

Wanted genuine horse/pony for a fun varied life. Mainly for experienced, ridden all her life mum to hack out with children and ponies around our quiet country tracks and lanes. Must also hack alone. Nothing sharp please.

To join in with riding club clinics and a bit of sj and xc, pop a log in the woods or go for an amble along the beach that sort of thing. It will be a fun varied life.

Would suit something older or younger as long as has a genuine chilled outlook. We are happy to bring on in other ways. I have a confident capable daughter who is more than happy to hop on if needed and horse wanted to do more exciting things.

We keep our horses at our home in lovely indoor stables with lots of turnout. They want for nothing and are a very much loved part of our family. We would prefer if the horse was privately owned and known fairly well. This will be a forever home so we’d like to get the right match.

Happy to wait if you’re not quite ready to move your horse on yet. Would consider sale, loan or lease. Our Email is bluemoon3218@hotmail.com or ring/text number below

This young cob is serious quality and is sure to go to the top in the right hands!

He is the sweetest boy to have around and would easily home produce and be a great contender for the amateur/SEIB circuit.

He was broken last year and had the summer out to mature. He’s now fully back in work and attended a few clinics and training days where he has proved to be a star, easy and willing, he has a fantastic brain and loves to work.

He’s a forward and responsive ride without being strong or silly.

Belle - 16.3/17hh 2016 dark bay full Irish draught mare.

Belle Is a super all rounder that has done a bit of everything.

She’s a fantastic and mannerly hunter that will jump anything with or without a lead. Will happily stand alone on point or be in the field.

She is well schooled on the flat and knows the basics in lateral work, she enjoys working and would go further.

She has done numerous unaffiliated showjumping and hunter trials at 90cm. She’s very straight and genuine to a fence, doesn’t mind what stride she’s on and Is very bold and brave. She’s been produced and done everything with a novice rider in his late 60s.

Bad points- can be tense with traffic on her own. Fine with Quad out hunting.,

Good home essential.

Hunting machine who is game for crossing any country! Loves big hedge days and fun! Hunting fit and ready to go!

James originally came to us from Ireland as a five year old. He was then sold to a friends riding school and did three years there but came back to us last year as he wasn’t enjoying riding school life. He would like to find an active home who will keep his brain busy. When in consistent work James is a total gem. He loves to do a job. If he gets bored / pissed off then he will have a protest buck. James will try it on with a new rider and so someone who can sit a cheeky buck is ideal, he is perfect 99% of the time but will on occasion get over excited and have a buck, if rider can ride, gives him a kick and a pull and makes a deal with him, he won't do it again with that rider. He very much knows who's on top and what he can get away with. He has had all checks done, its just him! For this reason he's probably best suited to a slightly more gung ho rider who will tell him to get on with it. Once he has a bond with his rider he is a total angel but he doesn’t suit having lots of different riders and appreciates a rider who is firm but fair and not flappy or whip happy and knows how to ride one in front of the leg.

He has been nicely schooled on the flat and will work in a good shape , schooling isn’t his favourite thing but he will work away when asked. James LOVES jumping. He will jump round 80 cm both SJ and XC in a steady rhythm. He would love to go to an active PC or RC home who will take him out to see the world and give him lots of variety.

Cross country James is awesome. He isn’t phased by ditches, water or anything in between and gives a lot of confidence jumping. He hunted several times with us last year and was foot perfect on some busy days including opening meet while ridden by teenage riders .

Hunts in a snaffle and polite, will jump anything you ask of him and gives a great day out. He hacks out alone and in company and is very good in traffic. Good to catch, box, perfect to clip, shoe, etc. he’s a loving horse who would like his own best friend to enjoy life with.

Red - Full Irish Draught Standing at approx 16.2 hh. 4 years old. Breeding - by Devils Punchbowl (Crannagh Hero) out of a Westmeathe Lad Dam.

I originally purchased Red direct from Ireland as a 3 year old. There he had been backed for about 6 weeks and done a days hunting. After some good grass over winter Red has been professionally restarted this summer and bought on slowly. He completed the Young Horse Programme at Hanna Walton Equestrian, trained using natural horsemanship methods.

Red requires a kind, experienced home as he is of course still very green and takes confidence from his handler. He is an extremely quick learner and I know in time will be the perfect allrounder.

Red is fully vaccinated, has just had his teeth done, has great feet (barefoot) and is brilliant with the vet and farrier. He is a good doer (lives on fresh air) and loves his food. No vices. He has been out hacking and has seen traffic. Happily lives in or out. He has travelled in a 3.5 and 7.5 tonne lorry but does require further practice with this.

Sadly due to my lack of time and facilities I am now selling him from the field. Finding the perfect person for him is my main priority.

CUPPY - Beautiful substantial 2017 15.3hh black Irish mare who is one of the most sweet natured girls we have had for a long time, she has character, wants to be your friend and is exactly what a super cob should be!

She is a lovely leg in each corner type but yet she still moves in an athletic way. Not only does Cuppy have three nice paces on the flat, she has unreal amounts of scope over a fence for her type.

She’s been ridden by a teenage girl, she’s done most riding club / pony club activities and she jumps for fun. Cuppy is a leg on ride, she’s forgiving and easy. She’s done plenty of cross country and showjumping.

She has been ridden at various different venues, she is used to going out and about and she offers a fun, safe and enjoyable ride. She loves jumping, and she’s absolutely brilliant at it, she has flown round our scary jump for joy fences here.

Cuppy will hack alone and in company, great with the scary heavy stuff and she has been brilliant in open spaces, she’s cantered alone and in groups with us and has been super, she has been sensible with the livestock here and will tolerate the dogs etc in the yard, she’s a chilled out girl in the stable and easy to handle and have around.

Open to any vet or trainer.

DO YOU HAVE A HORSE OR PONY SUITABLE FOR THE RDA?

WANTED ON LONG TERM LOAN / PURCHASE

Ref #: 249896
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below

One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below.

Please read the whole advert as I’ve written an honest advert to prevent wasting people’s time and my own aswell as getting Arthur his forever home.

Arthur is an absolutely stunning 14.1 / 2 hh cob for sale through no fault of his own, his 15 almost 16 years old and looks like his been shaken out of a fairytale book. He carries himself so beautifully and is a very affectionate and intelligent horse.

The vet and the dentist said they would put Arthur as a couple of years younger than his passport age. He had his teeth done in September and just had the farrier out, he has been shod in the past but has great feet and so does not require shoes - the farrier said he has the best feet his ever seen. Arthur has been driving horse for the first part of his adult life so he is very much ridden on voice commands he has not been driven by myself. He has done liberty dressage and he knows various tricks his very clever.

Arthur loves to be groomed and often falls asleep with his lip dangling because his enjoying it so much ! He would stand for hours to be groomed. He is an absolute saint to handle on the ground and a small child could lead him around. He has become a bit stubborn with his front feet being picked up but I think his being a bit stubborn because his bored. He is excellent on the road and has previously been ridden through London. He has ridden both English and western.

Although there are many areas that Arthur would suit a complete novice owner I do not think he is for a complete novice rider because he can be strong. He has not bucked or reared and is very good at listening to voice commands once he knows you but he is strong when he wants to be and for that reason I do not think he would suit a novice. I don’t have access to a school so I don’t know how he is schooling. Apart from the odd log I don’t if he jumps. You could lead a novice on him and he would be an absolute angel. I have had novices ride him off lead and he was amazingly behaved. Arthur really is an amazing horse and his unfortunately wasted here and his too good for that. Please no loans and no time wasters I’m open to sensible offers for a good home

I wish I could have a yard full like this! Proudly introducing ‘Hugo’ aka ‘Mr Grey’ - a well put together 17hh , 16yo, ID gelding
Perfectly sounds with no injuries etc and is open to inspection

Hugo is a playful character in the stable , he loves to be around you! Especially when mucking out, you turn around and he’s right there , like a giant speed bump wanting to be touched! He’s such a character , everyone on the yard loves him dearly. He’s very easy to do everything with. He stands to be clipped , bathed , shod etc. Loads and travels sweetly and is great to catch, live in or out and so forth - genuinely very easy to have on the yard!

Hugo loves to work in the school , he’s a leg in each corner type in the arena. Would go down the gears for a less able rider and back up through the gears for a rider who wants more from him. You can walk , trot, and canter him around on the buckle end , you can equally gather him up and ask for a decent piece of work from him. He is snaffle mouthed , responsive , and willing to work. He has a rocking horse motion canter , and three attractive and easy paces to ride through. I would say he would be a riding school candidate for sure

H loves to jump!! Takes you to a fence while remaining polite through his mannerisms. Pricks his ears and loves the job! Has show jumped to 1m10 unaffiliated with plenty of ribbons and clear rounds along the way, not to mention a whole lot of fun for his teenage owner. He is not at all put off by fillers and happy to take a complete miss , he’s a very honest boy who can get himself out of trouble. He will trot around some cross poles or competitively ride around a bigger class , he is quite versatile which is probably my favourite thing about him. Real forgiving type who just wants to please

Hugo has done loads of XC and loves it. Not phased by water, hedges, rustics, gates etc! Forward and keen in a committed way, always polite. He knows the job well and is again bold and brave and very straightforward. Again, he’s had plenty of ribbons at combined training / hunter trails / and cross country rallies

Hugo has done a few seasons hunting and loved it!! Great around the hands , sensible at the meet and loves the job.

Hacking is up there on his list of favourites!! He’s happy to go alone or in company and the perks of an older horse is there is nothing they haven’t seen! He’s very bold in traffic and has been giving the breakers a lead for me this week. My yard girls who are 13 and 15 have so much fun out hacking. He would be a real confidence giver in this sphere. Mannerly in open spaces , in front or behind , never strong or silly. Stands solidly at the mountain block

Also loves to go to the beach and a funride is his idea of heaven!!

Hugo has been owned by a friend of mine for her teenage daughter for the last few years where she has done absolutely everything with him and he really has shaped her into the fantastic rider she is today with all the confidence and experiences she has being at his credit. The decision to sort with him has been extremely heavy hearted and thought upon and great length. Unfortunately friend’s daughter is now at the age where she had just left school and wants to pursue her racing career dreams and therefore Hugo was going to waste. This sale is of absolutely no fault of his own. He comes with glowing references

As much of a saint as Hugo is , he has also been used to have a job and have a lot of fun on so I’d imagine he’d be too forward for a complete novice out of the arena but equally you don’t need to be any kind of super star to ride him!! Easy enough for a keen teen and would certainly be an elderly persons dream hacker and everything in between!!

This isn’t the type of horse you see on the market everyday , he will really be someone’s horse of a lifetime!! He loves to work and most importantly of all , he just wants you to love him, he’s such a people horse. Only the best of homes should enquire

Companion Pony - Ramona

Ramona is a sweet and loving mare who, despite having a veterinary condition that means she cannot be ridden, still has so much to offer her new family. She is a gentle and friendly horse with a kind heart, and she loves spending time with people. Ramona is a perfect companion for someone looking for a horse to enjoy on the ground, whether it’s going for walks in hand, doing groundwork, or even trying something like agility.

She gets along well with other horses and is easy to handle once settled in a routine, making her an ideal choice for a family or individual who has the time and patience to enjoy her at her own pace. Ramona is the perfect mare for someone who wants a calm, loving companion who doesn’t require the demands of riding but still enjoys being involved in equine activities.

Ramona has a veterinary condition that means she cannot be ridden. However, she remains in good health and is perfectly capable of living an active and enjoyable life through other activities. Her condition requires careful management, and she will need a home where her new family can be mindful of her limitations.

Ramona’s ideal home would be with an experienced horse owner who understands her needs and can offer her the care and companionship she deserves.

Can you give Ramona a new loving home?
