Gray is a super sweet 4y/o 13.3hh Welsh C Palomino gelding, looking for his forever family.
He has been well handled since he was a foal and is very easy to do in all situations. He’s been with me for backing for the last two months and has taken to everything like he’s been doing it all his life. I am selling Gray on behalf of my nanny/ housekeeper, this was a fun project for me in exchange for extra help.
Sweet, kind, trainable and unflappable in nature, he’s just recently been ridden by children as young as 8 out hacking and hasn’t spooked, bucked or done anything remotely silly since we started working with him. He can be led in and out of the field, groomed and handled by my six year old.
Gray has been trained under the TRT Method ‘Preparing the Perfect Pony’ system and has fantastic groundwork, is trained to park by the block, to come back to the person in the middle when the rider stops riding, and to regulate his own emotions in all situations. He’s been given time to grow and mature and has had the best possible start in life. He’s completely unspoiled.
He is hacking confidently and cantering out sensibly in a group, he goes in front or behind no problem at all. He doesn’t suffer from separation anxiety, is one of the few horses we have who can be left alone in the yard, so I don’t foresee solo hacking being a problem. He’s always happy to lead.
He has begun cantering and pole work in the arena so we can show prospective buyers but ideally he’ll do a lot more strength training out hacking before he’s schooled too much more in the arena. He’s always happy to give anything a go and the biggest challenge is always to not be too greedy in what you ask of him.
He’s being taught to find his balance and reach for the contact and is forward off the leg with a lovely soft mouth. Has never once gone to bolt even when seeing large machinery out hacking with only a rope halter.
He did most of his training until the last two weeks in nothing more than a rope halter and he stops very easily to both nose and bit pressure. He is still finding his consistency in the contact but that is coming quickly.
I have trained him to stop and turn in to the person on the ground in the arena when the rider goes neutral so that he’ll be very safe for children to ride. He parks and stands stock still in the arena or yard, I can drop the rope and walk away and he’ll stay put. Very calm when kids are fussing around him.
He will make the ultimate allrounder and child’s best friend, or a fab partner for a lightweight adult. The ideal mother daughter share. Riders in the videos are 5’2”- 5’5”.
He will only go to a knowledgable 5* home. We’re looking for him to go to a person of family where he’ll get a lot of love and will be able to continue learning in a positive environment. Please no first time horse owners, he is young and would be untrained as easily as he’s been trained.
Feel free to message me and we’ll arrange a time to speak about him- Beth
