Lovely straightforward and sensible youngster who will go on to do any job but will make an outstanding hunter, RC horse or just a lovely all rounder. Believed to be Irish Draught but no breeding recorded. 

Derry has recently been broken and is riding very sweetly under saddle, he is riding well in the arena and hacking out both alone and in company. He has a lovely laid back attitude to life and is a kind soul who wants to please. He’s obviously still green but has all the foundations in place for many years of fun. He is working well in all paces in the school, has a very naturally balanced canter  and has started to work in a shape, we haven’t drilled or pushed him in the school, everything is very easy for him! Derry is popping over a course of coloured fences and is brave, he’s not been bothered by fillers, water trays etc. and wants to please. He has lots of potential to go on and do good things.

With all our young horses, especially those on the larger side, we tend to concentrate on hacking and getting them seeing as much of life as possible. Derry has taken to this like a duck to water, he loves getting out and about and has remained calm in all situations we have put him in. He’s very good in traffic, having met every thing from bikes to tractors and HGV’s   and is happy to give a lead out hacking! Super in wide open spaces and just very polite. He has the right brain to become a handy police horse, remaining sober in all situations and is very trainable. Whoever ends up with him will have a lovely , easy going horse who always tries his best and wants to please. 

Derry is still a little shy on the ground but improves daily, he’s good to box, clip, shoe, (fine to catch but let him get to know you and leave a head collar on for the first few days). He wants to be your friend but is still in the mindset of carrots/treats = poison so responds better to a kind word and patience and lots of scratches! He improves daily and it won’t take him long to come out of his shell properly.

He’s a good, old fashioned Irish type and will be a good friend to someone.
