We've just returned from a fantastic 3-day camp at Somerford Farm where Hope yet again proved herself to be such a genuine pony with so much scope.
Currently 6 but rising 7, Hope has been an absolute treasure to own and is an incredibly quick learner. She is now ready for a competent teen (11/12yrs plus) or lightweight adult to have lots of fun with and take her to the next level!
Hope is suitable for a range of disciplines and would be perfect for RC/PC/ NSEA or simply as a happy hacker and clinic pony. Currently she is doing brilliantly SJ (jumping double clears up to 85cm), she is lovely for dressage (scoring 65% upwards at prelim and capable of schooling much higher with some very supple lateral work), and although she’s had limited experience at XC she is showing great potential and is honest and very careful (simply needs a session on ditches and drops). We've also dabbled with horseback archery on her and she was extremely well behaved.
She has been given time to mature, was professionally backed and has been brought on slowly & correctly with a year’s professional schooling before we commenced training her to jump which we've concentrated on this last year.
Been out to camps, clinics, pony club, NSEA etc. Placed or qualified practically every time. Gained lovely comments from the judges.
Now jumping 70- 85 confidently SJ and WH, & schooling 90 at home. Massive scope to go higher in the right hands but needs to be given time to step up or would be equally happy in a number of other disciplines.
Extremely well-schooled and light in hand, responsive to the leg, developing lateral work (shoulder/haunches in, leg yields, turns on the forehand/haunches etc), always scoring in the ribbons. Qualified for Prelim PC Barrier Spring Festival 2024 on one of her first outings.
One of the easiest ponies to handle, she's equally happy alone or in company and even parting company when out. I can't think of anything we've tried she hasn't taken to although we don't believe she'd enjoy the mayhem of PC Games! She does like to keep moving rather than stand still for too long, particularly on farm rides in large groups where she can get fidgety and excitable. If keeping moving she's a little saint.
As she is only 6years (rising 7) Hope still needs an experienced home who understand how to help a young pony develop their full potential. My 14year old daughter has had an amazing time bringing her on over the past year and a half and if she was a hand taller, we'd definitely be keeping her for PC teams this year. She is keen jumping & takes her jockey forwards into the fences without being whizzy or too strong but does require a rider who is confident and experienced enough to balance her, check her speed and allow her to travel! She comes directly down the paces when the contact is dropped, and jockey relaxes. She'd be ideal for a jockey who's had a good grounding and developed good habits on ponies ranging in ability and attitude.
I've not mentioned any bad points because any that there are extremely minor and easily overcome. She's great to clip, good with vet/ farrier/ to catch etc. Only loaded in a trailer to date but I'm confident we could quickly train her to go in a wagon too. Absolutely no vices and has great feet - currently barefoot and manages well on surfaces and out hacking, we've not done a lot on grass although she was happy at Somerford on the XC course and farm ride.
We've been struggling for availability to do viewings up until now but as I have two sons doing exams this year, we're around for the foreseeable future so please phone to discuss and arrange a viewing.
Full history known since age of 2. Very important that we find the right home for this special little pony so pls call/ message if you think you might make a good match. I will ask for ridden videos to avoid wasting anyone’s time and I won’t consider sold unseen. Unfortunately, no loans either as need to find daughter her next horse.
Her price includes a full wardrobe (inc prof fitted Kent and Masters PC saddle which cost aprox. £900)
